The village:

Alairac, a quaint Languedocian circular village which was built around a castle that dominated the valley of Carcassonne, where the canal du Midi flows quietly. The castle was replaced by a (listed) roman style church (XI-XIIth) which provides a beautiful view that you can see from the house with the Montagne Noire (1177m) in the background.

You can have a look at the wine-grower stone houses with their construction dates carved on the lintels or go rambling or mountain-biking on the bridleways of the Malepère mountain (a path just starts at the corner of the property).

A 100 yards away, you will find a grocery also selling fresh bread, croissants and cakes, cigarettes and newspapers. Next to it, the Post Office will enable you to send mail and make your friends looking forward to joining you.

Tennis courts are available all day in the village and you can also play pétanque under the shade of the plane trees in the company of the villagers.
